GULFPORT, MS (WLOX) -

Authorities at the Gulfport Police Department have just confirmed with WLOX News that Amber Nelson has been found alive and well.  Investigators also say she is not connected to an apparent kidnapping near Teagarden Road earlier today.

Police continue to look for information that may lead them to what witnesses called a kidnapping.  They have a description of a female jogger who was yanked into a truck at about 9:15 Monday morning.  But, they have no idea who that woman is, who the her alleged abductor is, or where the truck drove off to.

Gulfport police cordoned off a section of 16th Street near Highway 90 to investigate the kidnapping report.

Police say the female victim had on jogging clothes.  She was between 5'6" and 5'8" tall.  And she weighed about 130 pounds.  Witnesses said she had brown curly hair in a pony tail.

For about five hours, police wondered if the 30-year-old Nelson was the missing woman.  But late Monday afternoon, Nelson was reported to be safe.  And police determined she was not linked to the kidnapping.

Investigators say they continue to search for clues that may find the alleged kidnapper and his victim.

If you have information about this possible kidnapping, please call Gulfport Police at 1-228-868-5959 or call Crimestoppers at 1-877-787-5898.
